Understanding Intensional vs. Extensional models in AI and Decision Intelligence
By: Dr. Lorien Pratt
In automated and augmented decision making, two types of models stand apart: intensional models, which distill rules from reality, and extensional models, which generate new data by simulating scenarios using techniques like causal AI and digital twins.
Intensional models, which can be created through mechanisms like Randomized Controlled Trials, statistical pattern recognition, and machine learning, extract patterns from detailed observations. In contrast, extensional models work in the opposite direction: they create new data from hypothetical worlds by simulating the mechanisms behind them.
"The shift represented by Decision Intelligence is akin to when we took computer technology out of hidden rooms and onto our desks—and into our pockets."

Making the Invisible Visible: A Call for Physicalized Experiences to Understand Action at a Distance
By: Dr. Lorien Pratt
Modern society is interconnected in ways that give our actions a power that past generations never had. A single idea, a simple gesture, or a well-placed contribution can ripple outward amplified through networks of people, technology, and institutions, shaping outcomes far beyond what we can see. Small decisions can ignite waves of progress.

Making the Invisible Visible: A Call for Immersive Physicalized Experiences to Understand Action at a Distance

Modern society is interconnected in ways that give our actions a power that past generations never had. A single idea, a simple gesture, or a well-placed contribution can ripple outward, amplified through networks of people, technology, and institutions, shaping outcomes far beyond what we can see. Small decisions—mentoring someone, sharing knowledge, supporting innovation—can ignite waves of progress.

The Real Cost of a CEO's Time

Running a high-growth SaaS company has taught me that time isn't just money—it's survival. I've come to realize something critical: investors are not just betting on our growth numbers—they're betting on our ability to scale efficiently.
